2023 Presidency: PDP Chieftain Accuses Fayose Of Working For Tinubu

Dare Adeleke, an ally to Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the former Governor of Ekiti state of working with Tinubu to destabilize the party in the South-West region ahead of the 2023 Presidential election.

Dare who warned that PDP might lose the only South-Western state which it currently controls if Fayose is not called to order further pointed out that the party in the south-west region is heading to serious polarisation.

Fayose who is a top member of PDP in the South-West region began to raise concerns in the party after he openly declared that the Tinubu a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the leader of the South Western region.

"I am not championing the course of Tinubu, I am not in the position to do that, but there is no denying the fact that Tinubu is a prominent Yoruba leader, whether in APC or in PDP. There is no gainsaying that fact. Fayose is a prominent son of the Yoruba nation. Governors Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Okowa and Okezie Ikpeazu are prominent sons of southern Nigeria.

“What I am trying to say is that we can’t hide their identities and goodwill for political reasons. We can’t deny their contributions. Other leaders from the North like Ahmadu Bello made different impacts. So, Tinubu has paid his dues. I have paid my dues, Okowa has paid his dues, Wike has paid his dues. We need to acknowledge them," Fayose earlier said.

Adeleke suggested that it is possible that Fayose had been recruited by Tinubu to help deliver the South-West zone in his quest to emerge as the country's next president.

Further calling on the party's National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to salvage the crisis currently rocking the party in the South-Western Region, Adeleke said:

 “It’s about time the NWC takes a firm decision on the actions of these unruly party members, and stop them from these damaging actions of the PDP in the South West”

“Are they trying to plunge the party into total disorder? Can the Osun PDP tell us where their paymaster, Ayo Fayose derived power from, to zone the executives of South West Zonal Congress or does Tinubu now dictate what happens in the PDP so much as to override the Constitution of the party?”
