2023 Presidency: US State Secretary Pledges Commitment To Incoming Administration

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has assured Nigeria's President-elect, Bola Tinubu, of his country's commitment to strengthening the ties between both nations.

Blinken's assurance was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday through his spokesperson, Matthew Miller.

According to Miller, Blinken harped on his commitment to partner with the incoming administration to further deepen the partnership between the US and Nigeria.

“Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke this morning with Nigerian President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emphasize his continued commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Nigeria relationship with the incoming administration”, Miller stated.

The spokesman added that Blinken and Tinubu have had a conversation about the importance of inclusive leadership that represents all Nigerians, continued comprehensive security cooperation, and reforms to support economic growth.

He further noted the value of inclusive leadership for the benefit of all Nigerians was also a part of the discussion between the two men.

Blinken said that the cooperation between the United States and Nigeria is based on shared interests and strong people-to-people ties.

Miller further disclosed that the US Secretary of State talked about the need for the ties between both countries to be sustained under Tinubu's administration.
