2023 Presidency: Will Atiku Pick Wike As Running Mate?

Tension hightens as Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is yet to announce who will be his running mate come 2023.

AllNews Nigeria reports that PDP is expected to officially announce if Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike or his Delta State counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa will be Atiku's running mate.

At the PDP primary held on May 29, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate, polling 371 votes while his closest challenger,  Wike, came second with 237 votes.

Some diaspora groups have called on Atiku Abubakar to pick the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as his running mate for the presidential election. 

As of the time of filing this report, a top member of the PDP, (name witheld) via his whatsapp status congratulated Wike for the task ahead of him.

In the same vein, a reliable party member at the Lagos State, secreteriat told AllNews Nigeria that Wike has been confirmed at the National Headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

However, the party is yet to make an official statement declaring Nyesome Wike as Atiku's running mate.
