The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared his intention to run for the position of Nigeria's president in the 2023 elections.
Per a Daily Post report, Amaechi made the declaration at an ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) ceremony in Rivers State.
The minister disclosed that he would seek the ticket of the party with the aim of being President Muhammadu Buhari's successor.
"I stand before you today to declare my intention and submit my application to serve as your next President", he declared at the event.
Amaechi joins other presidential hopefuls who have indicated an interest in contesting to be the number one citizen of the country.
While revealing his plans after joining the race earlier, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said the APC has failed to protect the lives of Nigerians, adding that as president, he would give no room for insecurity.
