2023: Six Promises Tinubu Has Made To Nigerians

2023: Six Promises Tinubu Has Made To Nigerians

The All Progressives Congress Presidential (APC) candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, like other candidates has made many promises during rallies and discussions surrounding his presidency.

Though some promises seem similar, they may be different, depending on where he made them.

Here are some of the promises Tinubu has made to Nigerians if he is elected as the nation's president.

Security

Being a major bottleneck to peace in Nigeria, insecurity in the form of banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram, thuggery, IPOB and others, all the candidates are making promises they may or may not fulfil if elected.

The kidnapping and banditry have become so lucrative that armed robbery has dropped.

In this regard, Bola Tinubu has made some promises, if only they would be fulfilled.

At the Northwest presidential rally and inauguration of a campaign of gubernatorial and National Assembly candidates of the party, on a Tuesday in Kaduna, he promised to end insecurity in the state and Nigeria.

“All those troublemakers, kidnappers, killers who are terrorising the security of Kaduna, I assure you we will eliminate them,” Vanguard quoted him.

At another rally in Jigawa, Premium times quoted Asiwaju Tinubu as saying "Nigeria will see progress, we will end violence, kidnapping and violent killings and ramson taking, I assure you.

"You will be able to go to the farm two times in a season."

At his Adamawa rally, held in Yola, he said: “There will be an end to killing and kidnapping."

Economic Recovery

In January, Tinubu told APC supporters at a town meeting in Abuja that he will embark on an economic recovery project.

The presidential candidate who spoke on the theme 'Nigeria 2023: Setting the Youths Agenda' said he will lead an administration that will create an enabling environment that would unlock the creative abilities of Nigerian youths.

“As your accepted candidate with a renewed hope to give you today, tomorrow, and the day after, then the inheritance is yours,” Channels TV quoted him as saying.

Review Nigeria Railway Operations

In one of his speeches on January 18 in Lagos, Asiwaju said if elected, he would partner with the National Assembly “to review the organization, structure and operations of the Nigerian Railway Corporation”.

He also listed the Lagos – Kano; Benin – Abakaliki; Port Harcourt – Maiduguri; Lagos – Calabar; and Kano – Maradi as projects he would complete.

“In addition, we shall deploy technology and security assets to protect travellers and ensure the safety and integrity of our railway infrastructure," as reported by Vanguard.

End Youth Frustration

Tinubu had in Abia promised to end every form of frustration that Nigerian youths have been undergoing.

He made the promise at the flag-off of his presidential campaign and the commencement of the governorship campaign of Ikechi Emenike in Umuahia, Abia State.

"I promise you today, your frustrations will be over. None of you you will spend eight years for a four-year course,” he said.

Healthcare

Though he never elaborated on the kind of health packages he has for Nigerians in mind, Tinubu told Jigawa residents during his rally there that "every hope you have will be renewed, you will get good healthcare and prosperity.

“Starting in February, if you have your permanent voter’s cards come out and vote for me as the President.

"When you do that you vote for progress and development, you vote for agricultural business, you vote for constant electricity and good life and better health care and good education."

Almajiri Education

The poor Almajiri education system has become a menace for a while now.

The children are not properly catered for and they beg to survive while roaming in rag clothing and all.

Tinubu made promises in this regard too as Sunnews reported him saying; “If I become the president, I will work with you to establish a commission to find a lasting solution to the Almajiri problem.”

He added that he would transform the enormous potential of Nigerian youths into something productive."

He made this promise at a town hall meeting with Muslim leaders from the North West region.
