2023: Students Need Break To Exercise Civic Right — Sowore

Amid the rush to obtain the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ahead of the general elections, the Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari's government to grant Nigerian students in tertiary school a break to enable them to exercise their civic right of voting during the elections.

Sowore in different posts on Twitter expressed his discontentment with the possible disenfranchisement of 3.5 million Nigerian tertiary institution students to vote due to the ongoing academic session.

In one of his posts, the presidential candidate urged the government to allow the students to "choose their leaders so they can get rid of wicked leaders".

Sowore in a more recent post brought the attention of the President to the examination timetable set by the Federal University of Technology, Minna, of which an examination was fixed for February 24, a day before the election.

According to him, the students will not make it to their states to vote.

"The federal govt led by @MBuhari, @inecnigeria, the ministry of education must grant Nigerian students at least a week-long break to enable them to vote in the 2023 elections.

"They must be allowed to choose their leaders so they can get rid of wicked leaders," reads one of the posts.
