A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has discarded the suit challenging the candidacy of Bola Tinubu as the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had been dragged to court on June 9 by rights advocate and APC stalwart, Ngozika Ihuoma.
According to Ihuoma, they both violated extant electoral laws a few days after the former Lagos State Governor won the APC presidential primary.
Tinubu and Atiku were sued in the case marked FHC/ ABJ/CS/854/2022 along with their parties, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
Among other things, Ihuoma requested that INEC bar Tinubu from contesting the 2023 presidential election.
Dismissing the case for being speculative, Justice Fadima Muritala called the plaintiff a "meddlesome interloper having no locus standi to institute the suit."
