2023: Suit Seeking Obi, Tinubu's Disqualification Dismissed By Court

2023: Suit Seeking Obi, Tinubu's Disqualification Dismissed

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the suit instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to disqualify APC's Bola Tinubu and LP's Peter Obi from the 2023 election over the substitution of their running mates.

The dismissal took place on Monday and was given by Justice Donatus Okorowo held that the suit lacked merit and was aimed at irritating opponents in the 2023 presidential election.

He further stated that it was incompetent and unjustifiable as it disclosed no reasonable cause of action.

According to Okorowo, PDP failed woefully to disclose any injury it suffered in the substitution of running mates carried out by APC and the Labour Party.

The judge held that the issue of nomination and substitution are internal affairs of parties and that courts have no jurisdiction to dabble in them.

The defendants in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1016/2022 are INEC, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kabiru Masari, Labour Party, Peter Obi and Doyin Okupe and 1st to 7th defendants respectively.
