Ahead of the June 17 deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congres (APC), Bola Tinubu, has submitted the name of Kabir Ibrahim Masari as his running mate.
Per reports, Masari hails from the same state as President Muhammadu Buhari and his name will be changed later after party stakeholders have agreed on the suitable vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
A source within APC who spoke with Daily Post disclosed that Tinubu has submitted Masari's name as his running mate but added that "consultation is still ongoing".
It was also revealed that the move by the former Lagos State governor was to meet the statutory requirement and beat the deadline set by INEC.
Tinubu is set to meet with President Buhari on Thursday as consultation continues on the choice of the former's running mate.
