Iyabo Ojo | MC Oluomo
Iyabo Ojo, the popular Nollywood actress, has asserted that she is not obligated to support MC Oluomo’s political candidate despite being friends with him for a long time.
This comes in response to allegations made by actor Lege Miami, who accused her of posting fake election results and being ungrateful to MC Oluomo.
MC Oluomo is an ardent supporter of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Iyabo Ojo is openly supporting Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
In an Instagram Live video, she acknowledged that MC Oluomo had been supportive and generous to her over the years.
“MC is my friend, I’ve known him for about 10, 11, 12 years now,” she said.
She recounted MC Oluomo’s generosity to her, including his financial support during her child's hospitalization, her daughter's birthday party, her mother's burial, and a recent visit to her home.
“I remember when my child was sick and in the hospital many years ago, he came, he supported and he paid bills.
“He has been to my daughter’s birthday party before, not once or twice, he supported and he gave my daughter money because they are almost birthday mates.
“For my mom’s burial, he gave me N3.5 million, not N3 million. And even recently when he came to my place, he gave me N500 thousand.
“MC is my friend, he is a giver and that is one of the reasons why he is my friend; I like him a lot.
"He is a very nice person and I will forever respect him for that."
Despite her appreciation for his generosity, Iyabo Ojo said that she is not obligated to support his political candidate because she lacks faith in them.
She stood firm in her decision to support the candidate that aligns with her convictions.
“But that does not mean that I have to support his political candidate.
“I will not support his political candidate for my own selfish interest.
"I am convinced and my conscience is clear within my heart to support that person.”
She went on to mention that she has friends across all political parties and would not fight them because it is okay to be friends and not subscribe to each other’s political ideologies.
She also mentioned that she has a good relationship with Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and they communicate frequently.
