2023: Zamfara IDPs Get Voting Centres

Nigeria's election umpire INEC says it has established 61 voting centres for Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) in Zamfara.

Its Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor Saidu Ahmad, disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting in Gusau on Tuesday.

He added that the step is to ensure an all-inclusive 2023 general elections.

He explained that the 61 voting centres would affect 606 polling units out of 3,529 polling units and 72 wards out of the 147 wards in the 14 local government areas of the state.

He stated that five of the voting centres would be in Anka Local Government Area (LGA); seven in Bakura local government, five in Birnin magaji local government and three at Bukkuyum local government area.

Bugudu local government has seven of the centres; Gummi  has two; Gusau has six; Kaura Namoda has three; Maradun local government has two.

Maru local government has the largest of 10 centres; Shinkafi local government has the least of one center; Talata Mafara local government has three centers; Tsafe local government has five, while Zurmi local government has two centers.

Ahmad said also that Zamfara has one polling unit with zero voters in Bungudu Local Government Area.

Permanent Secretary, Office of the Executive Governor, Abubakar Jafaru, who represented Governor Bello Matawalle at the meeting commended INEC for a job well-done.

He said Zamfara is satisfied with the INEC arrangements for the forthcoming elections.
