2023: Zulum Receives Over 1,000 Defectors From PDP

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has received over 1,000 members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor received the defectors in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar local government area of the state.

The defectors numbering 1,200 were led by the PDP’s Secretary, Abba Chellu alongside the party's women leader, Yagana Alh Mohammad.

The governor was in the local government in his continuous effort to campaign for his reelection and other candidates of the APC.

Zulum was received by thousands of supporters from far and near.

Explaining why they left the PDP, the defectors said their decision was influenced by Governor Zulum's commitment to improving the living conditions of the people of Borno.

This was contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson to the governor, Malam Isa Gusau on Friday.

In his response, Governor Zulum said he would continue to fulfil his campaign promises to the people of Damasak and the entire Borno State.

Addressing thousands of his supporters, Zulum pledged the reconnection of Damasak town to the national grid.

He further expressed willingness to address flooding from the lake chad river banks facing Damasak.

The Governor also pledged to sustain the ongoing resettlement of communities and the advancement of women and youths empowerment across the state.

To end his campaign activities in the LGA, governor Zulum flagged off the 2023 school enrollment drive, to encourage out-of-school children to attend formal education.
