Nigeria's Super Falcons have gained automatic qualification into the second round of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers (WAFCONQ).
It follows after Sao Tome and Principe had to withdraw from the qualifying race.
The country’s football association communicated their decision to CAF without citing any reason.
The Super Falcons were scheduled to face Sao Tome in a first-leg qualifying fixture on September 22, with the return leg on September 26.
But that will no longer happen as Nigeria will now take on the winner of the tie between Cape Verde and Liberia in the second qualifying round, which will take place from November 27 to December 5, 2023.
The winner of the two-legged fixture will compete at the 2024 WAFCON which will be hosted by Morocco.
Nigeria finished in fourth place at the last edition of the competition also hosted by Morocco.
