24hrs After Testing Positive For Coronavirus, Gov. Bala Shut

 

Governor Bala Mohammed has ordered that all markets throughout Bauchi state be shut starting from tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, 2020.

Mr Mohammed who tested positive to Coronavirus infection on Tuesday stated that the directive is in line with the earlier decision of the State Government which had restricted any gathering that is more than 50 persons. 

"This directive is in line with the earlier decision of the State Government which had restricted any gathering that is more than 50 persons to minimize social interaction over the coronavirus pandemic," a statement signed by his special adviser on media, Mukhtar Gidado. 

"However, pharmacies, sellers of food items, supermarkets selling essential products, filling stations and bakeries are to remain open but they should adhere strictly to the instructions given on environmental cleanliness and hygiene to reduce the spread of the virus."

More so, officials of the State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) have been advised to direct their members to observe the rules on passenger conveyance to not more than three (3) persons per vehicles and to provide hand sanitizers to their passengers and to comply with the new policy of self-distancing

The State Government however assured citizens of its readiness and determination to strengthen the capacity of its medical personnel to deal with the outbreak.

At the time of reporting, Lagos has recorded 30 cases, FCT – 8, Ogun – 3, Ekiti, Oyo, Edo and Osun have one each.

So far, most of the infected people are those who have recently returned to the country from high-risk countries.

Among the people who have tested positive to the disease in Nigeria are government officials and administrators include the Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Frank Okiye and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
