27 Bodies Of Refugees Washed Ashore In Libya

The bodies of at least 27 refugees headed for Europe have been found washed ashore in Libya.

The country’s Red Crescent said yesterday, that the bodies, which includes those of a baby and two women, were found late on Saturday in two separate locations.

It was reported that 3 other refugees were rescued, and that search has begun for others.

The EU and Libya’s efforts to stop migrants from taking the sea to Europe has proven abortive.

According to the United Nations migration agency, more than 1,500 refugees have drowned in numerous shipwrecks in the Central Mediterranean route this year.

This latest tragedy comes days after 160 refugees died within a week in similar incidents, bringing the total number of lives lost this year to 1,500.
