The Nigeria Police, Jigawa State division, has confirmed that one Alhassan Ya’u on Monday killed his one-year-old son, Sani Alhassan.
The 30-year-old father slaughtered his son at Dankargo village in the Jahun local government area of Jigawa State.
According to the spokesman of Jigawa State police command, Abdu Jinjiri, the suspect allegedly killed his son with a knife at about 9:00 a.m on Monday.

The spokesman added that the investigation revealed that the suspect suffers from a psychiatric problem from time to time.
He noted that after the incident was reported, police operatives in the area rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect.
Jinjiri said an exhibit was recovered from the suspect and the baby was taken to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
He said the suspect will be taken to the Kazaure LGA psychiatric hospital for examination and medical attention.
