31 Killed In Tribal Clashes In Sudan

Sudanese authorities on Saturday said tribal clashes in the country's Blue Nile province killed at least 31 people and injured 39 others.

The fighting between the Hausa and Birta ethnic groups in the Blue Nile province escalated following the killing of a farmer earlier this week, according to the local government in the area.

The local government deployed the military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces to bring stability to the region.

Authorities also imposed a nightly curfew and banned gatherings in the area where the clashes took place.

Sudan’s Doctors Committee added that the clashes also left at least 39 people injured and damaged 16 shops in the town of Roseires.

The medical group called authorities in the capital of Khartoum to help evacuate injured people for advanced treatment.
