38 Inmates Die In Burundi Prison Fire Outbreak

At least 38 prisoners have died and 69 others were injured in a fire break out in the country's main prison in the capital state of Gitega.

This happened on Tuesday as the country's vice president confirmed the incident. It was claimed that many prisoners were sleeping at the time of the unfortunate incident.

It was claimed by the country’s interior ministry that the disaster was caused by an electrical short-circuit at the prison. Since the incident, the internet has been filled with images of fires and bodies of men lying on the floor.

The Police declared that the emergency fire service were late to the scene, as they arrived two hours later.
