Afrobeat maestro Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has emerged as the Artiste of the Year at the third annual Apple Music Awards.
Apple Music honoured the 'Essence' singer alongside other best artists of 2021 based on their influence on global culture.
Announcing Wizkid as the African Artiste of the Year award via their website, Apple Music listed his achievements this year.
Reacting to the latest win, Wizkid said, “Thank you to Apple Music for this award. It’s a blessing to get to do what I do, and I’m proud to be representing for Africa.”
Also on the list of Apple music winners is The Weeknd who bagged the Global Artist of the Year award.
Olivia Rodrigo went home with the Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year awards.
Apple gave five new Regional Artist of the Year awards to Aya Nakamura from France, OFFICIAL HIGE DANDISM won it for Japan, RIN for Germany, Scriptonite for Russia, and Wizkid for Africa.
