Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Executive Vice- Chairman, Prof Umar Danbatta, said telecom operators are not laying 5G fiber optic cables in Lagos or in any other parts of Nigeria.
This came out following the viral video, audio and text messages circulating on social media about 5G network being an agent contributing to the spread of the coronavirus.
Danbatta, in a statement on Wednesday, said; “As we speak, any information suggesting or claiming that the equipment being deployed by the network operators is 5G equipment is pure misinformation deliberately orchestrated by individuals bent on creating ill-feelings in the industry,” Danbatta said.
Danbatta pleaded with Nigerian to debunk from spreading the fake rumor about the 5G network and fiber cable installation adding that it is misinformation and does not speak well of the commission nationally and internationally.
