As the death toll from coronavirus in Indonesia rises, the government commissioned the digging of 6,000 graves to accommodate the bodies of victims of the disease.
The graves span two hectares of land and are located at the Rorotan public cemetery in Jakarta, the country's capital.
The Head of Jakarta Bina Marga Road Agency, Hari Nugroho, disclosed this, stating that the country prepares for the burying of more victims of coronavirus.
Indonesia remains the worst-hit nation in the southeast part of Asia, with Jakarta as the epicentre of the outbreak.

Nugroho, who was quoted by Jakarta Post, said, “We’re preparing the land and building a road to access the cemetery. Construction progress is at 4 percent.
“We expect this 2-hectare burial space to accommodate 6,000 funerals.”
The digging was necessitated by the dearth in burial sites, as stated by the Management Officer of Pondok Ranggon Public Cemetery, Nadi bin Eji.
Eji said that there had only been space for only 1,100 bodies, and the extra digging was anticipation of more bodies than the space available.
Indonesia currently reports a total of 282,724 coronavirus cases, with almost 11,000 deaths.
Globally, deaths from the novel coronavirus have hit one million.
