A sixty-nine-year-old visually impaired man, Julius Anyadiegwu, was burnt beyond recognition after a fire gutted his apartment in Ukunu village, Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State
According to the deceased's wife, Blessing, she noticed the fire outbreak when she started having difficulty breathing in the dead of night. She said it was one of their sons; now hospitalized, who rescued her. She said the boy tried to rescue the father but could not as he was badly burnt.
The cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown. Residents however ruled out electric surges as the community has been without a power supply for some time now.
