75-Year-Old Widow Mobilizes Women To Fix Water Project In Wamba

A 75-year-old widow, Zainab Ishaku has mobilized 20 women to fix the only source of potable water in Gbata, a community in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Zainab, a beneficiary of the monthly N5,000 Conditional Cash Transfer alongside 20 beneficiaries saved part of their stipends to fix the only source of safe drinking water in the area.

According to a resident, for years they had trekked long distances daily in search of water for domestic and other purposes.

The selflessness of the widow and her group of 20 women had brought succour to the community and ended their suffering.

They have also installed water tanks and taps at strategic locations in the community to provide residents with potable water.

The women said they were inspired to make a difference in the community considering the hardship they had to go through daily in search of water.
