90-Year-Old Emir Weds 20-Year -Old After 'Brief Courtship'

The Emir of Daura, Faruk Umar Faruk, has paid one million Naira dowry to marry 20-year-old bride, Aisha Iro Maikano, on Saturday.

In a low key ceremony that was made viral on social media, the nonagenarian wedded Aisha in Katsina after a brief courtship.

According to Daily Nigerian, the bride is the daughter of Fagacin Katsina, Iro Maikano.

Sources said the serial polygamist has married not less than four young wives in the last six years.

Sources close to the royal family said the emir divorced all his three wives recently and planned to marry a new set of four wives.

“The plan was that the emir wanted to marry at least three wives at one go,” said a family source.
