Abba Kyari: Gov. Obaseki Makes Plain Influence Of Late Buhar

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki says the "great influence" Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Muhammadu Buhari commanded, "made him a rallying point for key policy decisions".

Allnews reports that Kyari's death was announced on Friday evening by Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to President Buhari.

Kyari had tested positive to the dreaded COVID-19 on March 24 and was believed to be receiving treatment at a private facility within Nigeria.

In fact, according to The Cable early this month, family sources claimed Kyari was responding “very well” to treatment.

But he would later give up the ghost on Friday, according to the Presidency.

Reacting to President Buhari's right-hand man's demise on his official Twitter handle on Saturday morning, Obaseki, who met with Kyari days before his positive diagnosis, says the politician "would be missed greatly".

Kyari was an influential figure within the Buhari administration.

The deceased had widely been seen as one of the three most powerful people in Africa’s largest economy and said to have the complete trust of Buhari.

Some had even described him as the de facto head of the government because in a country where the presidency holds an inordinate amount of centralized power and government funds, deciding who has access to the president accords immense power and influence.
