Abducted Students Will Undergo Medical Examination Before Th

The Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari has said that the abducted schoolboys will undergo medical examination before they are handed over to their guardians.

Masari stated this in an interview with a German media outfit Deutsche Welle (DW) late Thursday evening, according to Vanguard.

He noted that the release was aided by the Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), serving a negotiation channel.

He maintained that the abductors were not Boko Haram insurgents but local bandits.

Masari said that before handing the students over to their parents, the state government would "change their clothes" as they have spent six days in the forest.

He said, “Some hours ago, those assisting us in talks with the bandits said they have released all children in captivity. About 344 of them. And we have sent vehicles to transport them to Katsina.

“We will direct our doctors to carry out medical examination on the children tomorrow morning. They have spent six-day in the forest.

“We will change their clothes and we will hand them over to their parents.”

Although the students were kidnapped in Katsina State, the release happened at Tsafe, near Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Recall that AllNews reported the abduction of over 300 students by gunmen on December 11 from Government Science Secondary School, leading to a nationwide denunciation of the incumbent administration's efforts towards a safer Nigeria, especially in the volatile northern region.
