The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has assured the workers and pensioners of the state by the release of about N3.5 billion to ensure they'd take part in this year’s Christmas celebrations.
Governor Ikpeazu stated in his Christmas message that the release of the funds was to deal with the issue of salary backlog of some pensioners and workers in the state.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka, he stated that Governor Ikpeazu assured the state workforce of the determination of his administration to continue to cater for the welfare of workers in the state.
The governor urged the state to celebrate the yuletide season with peace adding that the period will be defined by peace and security as the government has put in place measures to deal with any form of criminality.
The governor further assured that contractors have been mobilised to start work on road projects. He also promised a massive turnaround in roads construction and mentioned the N150 million set aside for the traders whose businesses have been affected by the reconstruction of the roads.
