Abia seeks NAFDAC’s collaboration to end fake drugs

The Abia State Government has said it is ready to partner the National Agency For Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, in its campaign against fake drugs and substandard products.

This was made known by Gov. Alex Otti on Tuesday, when the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Umuahia

Otti said that the government would stop at nothing toward ensuring that the fight against the sales and manufacturing of fake drugs and substandard products succeeded in Abia.

According to him, the government would not relent in encouraging Abia people to maximise and channel their potential to positive ventures.

The governor commended the NAFDAC boss for being passionate about her job, thus saving the lives of many Nigerians

He also thanked her for endorsing his government

Earlier, Adeyeye said that the agency had the mandate to regulate and control the manufacturing of drugs, foods and other chemicals, to prevent deaths of any Nigerian as a result of unwholesome products

“NAFDACs mandate is to regulate and control the manufacture, importation; exportation; advertisement; sale and use of several regulated products; drugs; food; chemical devices; cosmetics and packaged water.

”This function will play a vital role in enabling the agency to ease the pain of our people, so that we can prevent death of so many that take falsified, substandard medicine and all unwholesome food,” she said.
