Abiodun At 60: Your Courage Made You Win 2019 Governorship Election - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun's discipline, diligence and courage, graciously translated into him winning the 2019 governorship election in his state. 

Buhari said this during his message to the governor on his 60th birthday. 

In a statement signed by the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, Buhari maintained that Abiodun had recorded many lofty achievements in the private sector and public service, attracting recognition at home and abroad, especially in contributing to his state and national development.

According to the President, Abiodun’s wealth of experience in providing leadership, and strong network in the business community will be gainfully used for the betterment of the state.

Prior to the 2019 governorship election in Ogun state, the immediate past governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had tried to sabotage Abiodun's candidacy by supporting Akinlade. 

Akinlade eventually lost the APC's guber ticket to Dapo Abiodun and left for the Allied People’s Movement (APM), where he also lost the election to the eventual winner, Abiodun.
