The Yobe State Government says it is providing shelter for about 4, 000 displaced by activities of gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members.

Speaking to AllNews Nigeria, the Executive Secretary of the State's Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Muhammad Goje said though Yobe as one of the states that suffered from the operations of the gunmen, most refugees have returned to their homes, taking to agriculture as they move to put their lives back together.

He said at the moment, refugees from about three villages located at Gujba and Yunusarii local governments are the only ones still camping or living with relatives as they are not comfortable going back home, adding that the government only helps them resettle when they say so.

Dr. Goje added that the Mai Mala led government has provided relief packages for the farmers and gave out capital to others to start up businesses as they settle in their once chaotic villages.

"Firstly, the government helped them in their farming activities, their businesses, and secondly, they have been given some packages so that when they return, they will have something to hold on to and help their families with feeding and the rest before everything returns back to normal", he said.

He added that the government has also housed some refugees from Borno or some villages in Borno at Yobe, disclosing that Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed that they should be provided with meals and where to stay in the mean time.

"We have about four thousand and more of these refugees, they ate housed at a place called transit camp", he revealed.

Goje said afterwards, if they want to go back home, then they will be helped where necessary. If they chose to stay in town, it is also fine.

He confirmed that government and security Forces are doing all they can to restore normalcy to the affected regions.
