Abuja Concert: Police Arraigned Naira Marley For Violating C

The State Police Command have arraigned Nigerian singer and songwriter, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Oshodi for violating the cessation of movement and interstates travel order in Lagos.

AllNews recalls that Mafo’ crooner on Saturday, July 13  embarked on a non essential travel from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos the same date, through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja for a musical concert  held at the Jabi Lake Mall in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Following public outrage, the FCT Minister shut down the mall and the Federal Government of Nigeria stopped the operation of the airline whose plane he chartered.

Naira Marley was arraigned alongside his Manager Seyi Awouga on one count charge of breach of cessation of movement and interstates travel order made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under Regulation 4(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease Emergency Prevention) Regulation No 2 of 2020 and committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law, Ch. P16, Laws of Lagos State 2015

The two accused persons pleaded guilty to the charge and were awarded a fine of one hundred thousand naira each by the presiding Magistrate.

Recall Naira Marley was arraigned for a similar offence in April 2020 after he attended the house party hosted by actress Funke Akindele and her husband Abdulrasheed Bello better known as JJC Skillz amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

However, charges were dropped against the singer on the account that he offered to tender an apology to the President Muhammadu Buhari, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
