Abuja: Inspector of police dismissed over involvement in rob

Inspector Adabo Mohammed has been fired by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, for allegedly taking part in abduction and robbery in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer.

He said that the discharged officer was part of an armed robbery group that had robbed a victim in the capital city's Gwagwalada neighbourhood of N29.8 million.

The statement said that Mohammed was a member of the group that abducted Ikechukwu Emmanuel Okafor in the Tunga Manje region and demanded a ransom of N4.4 million, according to the results of the investigation.

"One Inspector Adabo Mohammed was dismissed for the offences of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery/kidnapping, and corrupt practice," the announcement said in part.

The discharged officer belonged to an armed robbery group that also kidnapped Ikechukwu Emmanuel Okafor in Tunga Manje and collected a ransom of N4.4 million. The gang stole N29.8 million from a victim in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory.

"Therefore, the ex-officer has been charged in court."

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an inquiry into the tragic death of Khalid Ahmed Bichi in the Maitama neighbourhood of the nation's capital.

Assassins assassinated Bichi, a Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, employee, on Friday. He was reportedly shot numerous times by his assailants as he ventured outside to grab food around 9 p.m.

SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Sunday that Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh has ordered a thorough and discreet inquiry into the incident.

The statement went on to say that the perpetrator(s) are being pursued diligently, emphasising that attempts are being made to arrest and bring them to justice.

“Furthermore, CP Benneth Igweh reaffirms the unwavering dedication of the FCT Police Command to enhance the security landscape of the Territory and continually adapt strategies to effectively combat evolving criminal activities. Updates on this matter will be provided in due course,” Josephine said.
