Accidents: FRSC cautions against use of substandard tyres

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned motorists against the use of substandard tyres to avoid accidents.

The Corps Public Education Officer, Jonas Agwu, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Abuja that the two were major contributors to road accidents in the country

He said that the recent such accidents, which claimed several lives, occurred in Kano and Kaduna states

He therefore warned motorists to obey traffic laws including adherence to the speed limit and complying with maximum safety requirements.

According to Agwu, the reports of investigation submitted to the Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali-Biu regarding the incidents in Kano and Kaduna states showed that the Gaya Junction crash involved two vehicles

“These are Toyota Hiace Bus and a Hijet Bus registered as KTG 190 XB and KTG 501YG, respectively, which occurred on Friday.

“The report also revealed that the Gaya crash which was occasioned by speed limit violation, tyre burst involved 28 people comprising 17 male adults, five female adults, two male children and four female children,” he said.
