Actress Kehinde Bankole Poised To Play Younger Version Of Fe

Nollywood star Kehinde Bankole is poised to breathe life to the younger version of late Fela's mother Funmilayo Ransome Kuti in the upcoming biopic helmed by Bolanle Austen-Peters.

The film is titled Funmilayo: Lioness of Lisabi and Bankole will star alongside veteran actress Joke Silva who plays the older version of the same character.

The biopic will focus on Ransome Kuti's early life as well as her ascent to international recognition as a renowned activist who championed the cause of the oppressed.

Commenting on getting the role, Bankole disclosed that her personality traits and character is similar to that of the character she will play, adding that injustice is something she detests.

"Playing this role is a message to awaken a part of me that I always try to suppress, In many ways than one, my personality traits and character is similar to what the visionary chief Funmilayo Ransome Kuti stood for during her lifetime.

"I detest injustice and corruption and this is indeed a deep and very personal call to me to do more in my fight for the underprivileged and to continue to speak up.

"Playing this role would educate the younger generation about heroines like Funmilayo Ransome Kuti and fulfilling their life dreams and purposes", she stated.
