Actress Toyin Abraham Makes Directorial Debut With 'Listening Ears'

Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has made her directorial debut with the feature film Listening Ears.

The news was announced by director Niyi Akinmolayan on his Instagram page on Tuesday as he shared a video clip of Abraham on directorial duties.

The filmmaker excitedly shared how proud he was of the Prophetess star for taking the bold step, adding that she loves making movies.

Akinmolayan wrote: "Super proud of my baby girl @toyin_abraham  for taking this bold step directing a feature! Toyin really loves making movies and she’s such a useful addition even to our stories like prophetess and Elevatorbaby.

"I have no doubt she’s going to make a beautiful film but what I’m most excited about is the opportunity she’s given young people!! We at @anthillstudios_ are proud of you Toyin and can’t wait to see the film!"

On her part, Toyin Abraham speaking in the video clip said: "I decided to direct this movie because it has always been one of my dreams.

"I'm an entertainer and I've tried my hands on so many things; I've produced, acted, so I feel the next thing for me is directing. 

"Nobody was on set with me when I was directing, so it was really, really crazy. So, I did everything myself... Before I got on set, I had spoken to directors.

"I spoke to Mr. Niyi Akinmolayan and I spoke to my husband, Mr. Kolawale Adeyemi. I have never doubted myself. I have never for once doubted myself in everything I do.

"And yes, I get tired on set, and I  realized that once you're tired the movie stops. So, I had to keep, you know now, ginger everybody, ginger the swagger!

"And you know, because I worked with a lot of new faces, it was a bit difficult but you know me, I pulled through."

Listening Ears is set to premiere on YouTube and no official release date was given as of the time of this writing. The video shared by Akinmolayan is available for viewing below.
