The Adamawa State House of Assembly has declared vacant, the seat of a member representing Michika, Joseph Ayuba over defection from his party.

Ayuba whose seat has been declared vacant defected from the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Ayuba's seat was declared vacant after the deputy speaker, Pwamwakeno Mackondo introduced the motion on Wednesday during the House plenary.

He said since the Lawmaker was elected under the PDP, he must forfeit his seat having decamped to another.

He added that the seat must be declared vacant in line with the provisions of Section 109 1(G) of the Constitution.

Upon adoption by all the 13 lawmakers present at the session, the speaker of the house, Aminu Abbas declared the lawmaker's seat vacant.

However the embattled lawmaker, Ayuba said the decision by the house was an act of injustice because he has not made it formal.

He said, “The decision by the House to declare my seat vacant is an injustice because I didn’t officially declare my defection or present any formal letter that I defected to APC," as reported by Daily Trust.

The Lawmaker further stated that the fight was not his to engage but his party's.
