Following the recent suspension of Hamidu Jingi Dirbishi, the Chairman of Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, councillors in the LGA have withdrawn the suspension.
The withdrawal of the suspension was announced by the nine councillors on Tuesday at the press centre of the office of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Yola, the state's capital.
The councillors were representatives of Mugulbu, Nduku, Dirbishi, Duvu, Gude, Lamorde, Kwaja, Muzara and Nasarawo wards of the LGA.
The councillors who apologised to the chairman and the people of the LGA for their action, explained that the suspension did not follow due process.
Aminu Saadu Mo-Allahyidi who spoke on behalf of the councillors, said the suspension was in violation of the Local Government Administration Law.
He explained that the Adamawa State House of Assembly summoned them following the suspension.
"Today, we are here to clarify some issues.
"If you could recall, we impeached the Chairman of the Council last week, based on the allegations against him".
"After the incident, we were summoned by the State House of Assembly where our votes and proceedings were collected.
"During our meeting, we were told that there are some steps which we jumped during the impeachment.
"As law abiding citizens, nine out of ten of us sat down and agreed to withdraw the suspension in the interest of our LGA and for peace to reign and at the same time apologise for our action," he said.
