Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the allocation of land for the Diaspora Housing Project by the Federation Government in the state.
The governor gave the approval on Monday when he hosted the management of the Federal Housing Authority, FHA, at the State Government House in Yola, the state capital.
Governor Fintiri said the project will complement the modest efforts of his administration in providing decent and affordable housing for residents of the state.
Muhammad B. Tukur, the Governor's Senior New Media aide stated this in a statement on Monday, adding that the governor revealed that his administration has completed the construction of 1,000 housing units in the Malkohi area of the state.
He noted that the project has provided many interventions to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the people.
The governor assured the delegation that: "All the necessary provisions, such as land will be made available in the next seven days. The present administration is fully committed to the realization of the project."
On his part, Oyetunde Ojo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the FHA said: "The project will enable Diaspora Nigerians to own quality houses in the country; a vision that is aligned to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."
He explained that the project will encapsulate facilities, including police stations, hospitals, and supermarkets among others.
While noting that 60% of the contractors for the project will come from Adamawa, Ojo appreciated Fintiri for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation.
He also commended the governor for his giant strides in the state, including the "provision of road, empowerment programmes, and healthcare, as well as ensuring prompt payment of salary, and pension."
