Adamawa: Fintiri commits to payment of N3bn retirement benef

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated his commitment to commence payment of N3 billion retirement benefits to workers in the state. 

The governor who earlier released the aforementioned amount inaugurated a committee on Friday, stating that their responsibility remains significant for the commencement of the payment.

Governor Fintiri, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Auwal D Tukur called for urgency in clearing backlogs of the workers' retirement benefits.

He said: "The committee is expected to, amongst others, oversee the payment of the three billion released by the governor, ensure payment of gratuity is on the date of retirement beginning with the earliest retirees and followed sequentially."

He added that the committee is expected to deliver on its assignment within two weeks.

On his part, the Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Benson D. Jelani assured of the committee's commitment to deliver on the assignment. 

The committee members include Benson D. Jelani as Chairman while the State Auditor General, Usman Ahmed, Accountant General Kefas James, and Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Mohammed Sali serve as members. 

Others are Ibrahim Emmanuel, Hassan Muhammed Kolo, Head of Legal Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and Other Related Offences, Hassan Mailafiya, DSS representative and Philemon John Kayeni who will serve as Secretary of the committee.
