Adamawa: Fintiri to establish digital database for farmers,

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has concluded plans to establish a digital database for farmers and farmlands in the state.

The Chairman of the implementation committee of the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme (ADAS-P), Dr Ahmed Garba said the move was to have a directory aimed at enhancing agricultural support in the state.

Garba stated this on Thursday when he led the ADAS-P delegation to His Royal Majesty, Hama Bata Homon Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke at his Palace in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

He told the traditional ruler that the database will be used to ensure agricultural support reaches the genuine grassroots farmers to boost agriculture in the state.

Garba added: "The ADAS Programme will facilitate and drive the enhancement of production, commercialization and industrialization of agriculture for economic development to attract investors.

"We are going to use the traditional council to identify and profile farmers because they know the farmers and farmlands better than everyone."

He explained that henceforth only those on the government database will benefit from agricultural support in the State.

On his part, the Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Yaro urged the traditional ruler to support the programme and convey the governor's message to the district heads and all farmers in their respective communities.

Also speaking, Joy Tarfa, the Administrative Secretary of the ADAS-P urged stakeholders to be transparent and ensure the right beneficiaries were selected.
