Adamawa: Fire destroys shops in Yola

The Yola Town Market was on Monday gutted by fire, destroying many shops at Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The state’s Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta who was at the scene of the incident Monday morning, assured that government was yet to ascertain the cause of the inferno and pledged to support the affected traders.

Farauta said, although the exact number of affected traders are yet to be determined, government would do everything possible to provided succour for their losses.

“We are here to commiserate with our brothers and sisters who have been affected by this fire incident.

"Government would look into what has happened as the source of the fire and number of shops burnt shops is yet to be ascertained now,” the deputy governor said.

She asked the traders to take the colossal loss in good faith as no life was lost.

The Deputy Governor also urged the traders to allow access roads when building shops in case of fire incident.
