The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of food and non-food items to 1,016 victims of insurgency at Kwapre Community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

During the distribution on Saturday, the Director General of the agency, Mustapha Habib Ahmed said the Federal Government remains committed to supporting victims of insurgency across the country.

Ahmed who was represented by Galadima Sam Boyi, the Head of Relief and Rehabilitation at the Agency's Yola Operations office said the items distributed included building materials to alleviate the impact of the crisis.

He said: "The distribution, targeting 1,061 direct beneficiaries across 177 households in Kwapre, Zaa, and Demna communities, aims to bring relief to those displaced by the insurgency in the area."

As contained in a statement by the agency on Sunday, Simon Yakubu, the District Head of Guguba, praised the Federal Government's support and the Adamawa State government for the support. He equally urged the beneficiaries to use the materials received judiciously.

Also speaking, leaders of Dabna and Zaa communities appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for their support and urged for improved security measures for the safety of Kwapre and its development. 

The statement partly reads: "The flag-off ceremony symbolized the resilience and unity of the Kwapre community, supported by the state government and NEMA, as they strive for a brighter future.

"In her remarks, Mrs Heidi Edgar Permanent Secretary overseeing Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) who is ably represented by the Director Admin, appreciated the Federal Government and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for their support, including logistical assistance and cash support to the victims of the Boko Haram insurgents."
