Adamawa: No Plan To Ban 'Keke Napep' Operations - Fintiri

Adamawa: No Plan To Ban 'Keke Napep' Operations - Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has said that his administration has no plan to ban the operations of tricycles known as Keke Napep in the state.

The governor made this known while reacting to rumours in the state that he was planning to ban the operations of Keke Napep.

He described the rumour as unfound and baseless.

Fintiri further warned mischief makers against peddling misleading information capable of disrupting the peace enjoyed in the state.

“The rumours making the rounds that Government intends to ban their operations from Thursday is a figment of some people's imagination.

"At no time did the Government contemplate the idea, but the work of mischief makers."

Fintiri further lamented that his administration is worried about the unruly behaviour of some bad elements in the state.

He explained that they do not see the goodness in the government and try to impede on the progress the state has made in supporting businesses to thrive.

This was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by the Press Secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou.

Wonosikou quoted Fintiri as saying: “Contrary to news making the rounds in certain quarters, Adamawa State government has not banned commercial tricycles (Keke) from plying major roads either in the State capital or other cities across the State.

“We are ready to work with all well-meaning groups and individuals towards remaking Adamawa and placing her amongst the comity of developed States.

“I, therefore, urge all tricycle operators and other business owners to go about their normal businesses unhindered as no ban has been placed on Keke Napep riders in the State.

“We have equally directed security operatives to guard against the molestation of our citizens by hoodlums who peddle such dangerous rumour with a view to unleashing mayhem on innocent people.”
