The Adamawa State Police command has said that following the clash that engulfed between Lunguda and Waja communities of the Lafiya-Lamurde Local government Area, normalcy has been restored.
The command's spokesperson, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola.
Nguroje who spoke on Monday said the incident happened on Monday morning.
He added that the command swiftly responded to reports of the clash and dispatched its men to the area to restore peace.
“The Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, immediately sent a team of mobile police anti-homicide squad to the area and as at now normalcy has been restored."
He further disclosed that the number of casualties have not been fully compiled as investigation is still ongoing.
While assuring that the command has done well in ensuring safety of people, he urged travelers to go about their normal activities.
The communities have been at loggerheads over farm lands for a long time.
AllNews Nigeria reported that Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya visited Balanga local government area which shares border with Adamawa state, calling for calm between the Lunguda and Waja communities.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the renewed clash between the communities adding that his government will go after the perpetrators.
