Operatives of the Police Command and local hunters have dislodged bandits from their hideout in Gangtum District, Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa state.
PUNCH revealed on Saturday that the raid on the hideout, lasted several hours and also resulted in the rescue of the kidnapped victims.
Two suspected kidnappers were killed during an exchange of gunfire, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
The state police command’s spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Suleiman Nguroje, said in a statement; "The operation, which was carried out by personnel of the Ganye Division and hunters from Ganye at the Shiga da Niya Hill situated at a remote site in Gangtum Village, yielded positive results."
"Kidnapped victims were released after the kidnappers were engaged in battles which led to the death of two of them while others escaped with gun wounds."
The victims were said to have been kidnapped on January 19, 2022, and were taken to the hideout.
Ransom was already negotiated before the intervention of the police and hunters.
