Adamawa PWDs Demand Complete Inclusion

Adamawa PWDs Demand Complete Inclusion

The Association of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) has stressed the need to be part of all aspects as humans to ensure inclusion and the development of the state.

The request was made by the Chairman of the association, Sani Sabo during a one-day symposium, organised by the United States Agency International Development (USAID)-State2State project in Yola on Thursday.

The symposium, held in commemoration of International Day of PWDs, was themed “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world”.

Sabo said that the state government recognized their presence but regretted that there was no commitment by the government with regard to their welfare, appointment and representation in governance.

According to him, they have vital roles to play in the development of the state and the country at large.

On her part, the State2State team lead, Maryam Dikko said that the objective of the symposium is to interact with PDWs to understand some of the existing laws that affect them in the areas of essential services delivery.

“The day is about promoting the right and well-being of PWDs at every level of societal development and to raise awareness of the situation of PDWs in all aspects of political, social, economic and cultural law.”

Dikko called on the participants to join hands together for inclusive development.

She called on them to also understand the concept of the symposium and impact positively on their members for more success.
