Adamawa Rerun: IGP Baba Replaces CP Barde, Deploys Gombe CP

In response to the controversial supplementary election in Adamawa state, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has replaced the state's Commissioner of Police on Election duty, Mohammed Barde.

The IGP deployed the Gombe state Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim to take over from Barde with immediate effect.

This was made known while addressing Newsmen by the image maker of the police force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday.

Adejobi said the IGP remains committed to ensuring a free, fair and credible election.

As of the time of filing this report, a source in Adamawa revealed that the collation centre in the state has been under tight security as the officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters arrived.

Also, the New Media aide to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Muhammad B. Tukur, disclosed that the collation of results has resumed.

The collation was suspended following the illegal announcement of APC's Aishatu Binani as the winner by the state's Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari on Sunday.

Also present at the collation centre on Tuesday included the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.
