Adeboye Snubs Media After Meeting With Buhari

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God Pastor E.A Adeboye declined to speak with state house correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.

Allnews had on Monday  reported the meeting between Buhari and the very influential pastor at the Presidential villa in Abuja.

The meeting which held behind closed door also had in attendance Yemi Osinbajo who is also a pastor at RCCG and the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

Started around 3pm, the meeting between Adeboye and Buhari ended a few minutes after.

While it is a norm for the state house correspondents to be briefed after meetings of such importance, Pastor Adeboye declined to speak to the media.

Also, the Presidency is yet to release details of  the meeting as of the time of filing this report.

The meeting between Buhari and Adeboye is coming at a time when religions leaders and groups were kicking against a section of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, which the President signed into law on August 7, 2020.

One of the contentious aspects of the law is Section 839, which provides for religious bodies, non-governmental organisations and charity organisations to be regulated by the Registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission and a supervising minister.

However, the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigerian (PFN) has opposed the law.
