Adeleke Taking Credit For Predecessor's Projects - Osun APC

Adeleke Taking Credit For Predecessor's Projects - Osun APC

Even as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is celebrating its 100 days in office, the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has alleged that it is taking credit for projects embarked on by his predecessor.

Osun APC which also condemned the Adeleke administration for halting activities of the Ilesha University (IU) claimed that the Adegboyega Oyetola administration has met all requirements and received approval from adequate bodies.

The party which bared its mind in a press conference addressed by Tajudeen Lawal, its acting Chairman in Osogbo on Wednesday also alleged that the Adeleke administration is in possession of N90 billion which it has received in the last three months.

Representing the acting Chairman, Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC Director of Media and Information bemoaned the development and described it as a mirage.

While describing the 100 days of the administration as uneventful, Osun APC alleged that the N90 billion accrued to the states coffers was lavishly spent and unaccounted for.

The Adeleke administration was also accused of sacking 1,500 teachers and 500 health workers recruited by the Oyetola administration for political reasons and is misleading the people of the state that it is digitising the economy and adopting telemedicine.

It is also accused of killing the dream of many decades by putting on hold the takeoff of the University of Ilesa and stopping the $106 million Ilesa Water Project.

“Adeleke also sacked 500 health workers when there were no enough number of the required health staff in the state. Adeleke has been using political hoodlums to torment, harass, maim and kill members of the opposition APC members before, during and after the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“Within the period under review, the embattled governor succeeded in dissolving the age-long National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state and promptly and surprisingly replaced them with handpicked and heavily compromised Park Managers under the leadership of a notorious and daredevil political thug who hails from Osogbo.

“The sacked governor in a similar manner also dissolved the O’Meal operators and forcefully withdrew official cars from the Iyaloja-General of the state and other Iyalojas (market women leaders) across the state."

Lawal also alleged that the ruling party in the state has victimised APC members in the buildup to the last Presidential election resulting to death of it member.

The party called on the anti-graft agency to beam its searchlight into the financial activities of the state.

Responding through Akindele Adekunle, its caretaker chairman in the state, the Osun PDP said that Osun APC is dazed and that Governor Adeleke is a man of due process and rule of law who subjected all government's financial transactions to public financial regulations.

Comparing both administration, Akindele explained that the former government breached all known procurement rules, circumvented financial regulations and foisted an opaque financial management system on the state.

He alleged that the APC statement confirmed why former Governor Oyetola failed woefully as his team were ignorant of the significant advances in the field of digital economy financing through telecom investors, expansion of health care access to the poor through telephone powered telemedicine and innovations in good governance delivery through selfless leadership.

"The statement by the State's APC just confirmed why former Governor Gboyega Oyetola failed woefully as his team are ignorant of the significant advances in the field of digital economy financing through telecom investors, expansion of health care access to the poor through telephone powered telemedicine and innovations in good governance delivery through selfless leadership.

"If APC leadership is shameful, it is sufficient for it to listen to the voice of Osun people and their positive rating of the PDP government.

"The Adeleke administration is delivering on all critical areas of the state economy, building new roads, rehabilitating old ones and taken Osun on digital world map to create jobs and wealth for our people.

"The APC team is dazed and confused. All what Mr Oyetola said cannot be done are been achieved and implemented by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

"The reason principally is that the PDP government is not a thieving government; his Excellency is committed to a transparent management of state resources.

"He blocked all leakages in revenue generation and redirected disbursement of public funds to areas of needs of the people."

PDP accused the APC under the Oyetola administration of running an a sadistic, anti-people and anti-labour movement which rejoices in inflicting pains on the workers and people of Osun State.
