Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sunday Bisi, has expressed confidence that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s accomplishments since taking office in 2022 will ensure the party's continued dominance in the state.
Bisi, speaking at a monthly interactive session organized by the League of Veteran Journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, emphasized that the positive impact of Adeleke's administration has been felt across all segments of Osun State.
He cited the payment of workers' salaries, pensions, and ongoing infrastructure projects as key indicators of the government’s success.
“By God’s grace, Osun people are happy with us. Will the people of Osun now say the government of PDP has failed? No!” Bisi remarked, adding, “PDP will continue to rule Osun State forever.”
He also addressed allegations that Governor Adeleke and his relatives from Ede had sidelined other interests in the state’s administration. Bisi dismissed these claims.
“Concerning Ede’s matter, we thank God for Adelekes who assisted us to liberate Osun, but the family has been magnanimous and accommodating.”
In response to Bisi's statements, Kola Olabisi, Director of Media for the Osun State All Progressives Congress, APC, dismissed the PDP chairman’s confidence as arrogance.
Olabisi declared the opposition's readiness to challenge and end Adeleke’s reign in the next governorship election.
“We are not moved by the arrogant statement credited to Mr. Sunday Bisi,” Olabisi said. He further remarked that similar claims had been made by the PDP in the past, only for the party to be defeated.
“It is still fresh in the memory of the people of this country how one of the former national chairmen of the PDP haughtily stated that their party would rule the nation for 60 years, which eventually resulted in the loss of the party at the national level", he added.
